In a March 2015 article, Forbes ranked Knoxville as #2 on America’s Most Affordable Cities list. Knoxville moved up 3 slots from last year’s no. 5 ranking.
Forbes considered city size, family income, healthcare costs and cost of living when tallying their list. The Southern U.S. dominates with 11 metro areas, including three regional cities in the top five: Birmingham, Ala. (no. 1), Knoxville, Tenn. (no. 2) and Oklahoma City, Okla. (no. 4).
