A new Kroger is planned for the Powell Area.
According to a story in the Knoxville News Sentinel, the grocery chain closed on a 16.6-acre tract that was once part of the Powell Airport site, in a deal valued at more than $4.3 million.
In March 2013, MPC approved a development plan for the site. A considerable amount of fill dirt will be needed to make it buildable.
